Faramarz was born in Tehran, Iran in 1969 to a family of six children. As a teenager, he started lifting weights to build strength for swimming, Olympic wrestling and boxing. While training at the gym, he got to know some of the pros from his country. They recognized his potential and encouraged him to start bodybuilding. Soon after he fell in love with the sport and made it a promise to go to America to compete amongst the best bodybuilders in the world for his Pro card.

He immigrated to the United States in 1992 and entered and won his first competition in 1995. Even though he was qualified for Nationals, he had to wait seven years for citizenship before proceeding to the next level. Since 2002, he has placed in the top six at Nationals and top 2 at USA.

He is currently living in Sacramento, CA with his wife and two children.
